Terms and Conditions
Last updated: March 31, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Ghost Detect (ghost-detect.com), including the website, API, Chrome extension, Discord bot, and any associated tools, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Description of Service
Ghost Detect is a free tool that uses machine learning to classify Spotify artists as human or likely ghost artists (AI-generated or fake personas). Classifications are provided through a web interface, browser extension, Discord bot, and API.
3. No Guarantee of Accuracy
Ghost Detect provides probabilistic classifications based on a machine learning model. Classifications are not definitive determinations. The tool may produce false positives (real artists incorrectly classified as ghost) or false negatives (ghost artists incorrectly classified as human). You should not rely solely on Ghost Detect classifications to make decisions about artists, music, or playlists.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the service to harass, defame, or harm any artist or individual
- Attempt to reverse-engineer the classification algorithm or model
- Make automated requests to the API at a rate that degrades service for other users
- Use classifications as the sole basis for public accusations against any artist
- Scrape, republish, or redistribute classification data in bulk
- Use the service for any illegal purpose
5. User Feedback
When you submit feedback (marking a classification as correct or incorrect), you grant Ghost Detect permission to use that feedback to improve the classification model. Feedback is reviewed manually before being incorporated into the training dataset. No personal information is collected with feedback submissions.
6. Intellectual Property
The Ghost Detect classification model, algorithm, feature engineering, and underlying methodology are proprietary. The classifications produced by the service are provided for informational purposes only and may not be reproduced in bulk or used to create competing services.
7. Third-Party Services
Ghost Detect uses data from third-party services including Spotify, Last.fm, MusicBrainz, Discogs, Genius, and Wikipedia. Ghost Detect is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of these services. Spotify and all related trademarks are the property of Spotify AB.
8. Limitation of Liability
Ghost Detect is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. In no event shall Ghost Detect or its creators be liable for any damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the service, including but not limited to damages resulting from incorrect classifications.
9. Modifications
Ghost Detect reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms. Material changes will be noted by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
10. Termination
Ghost Detect reserves the right to restrict or terminate access to the service for any user who violates these terms or engages in abusive behavior.
